The Billionaire Donors Behind Trump’s Midterm Superweapon

Wealthy donors, including tech and finance billionaires, have significantly funded Donald Trump's MAGA Inc. super PAC. Notable contributors like Kelsey Warren and Greg Brockman each donated $12.5 million. Forbes reports over 24 billionaires or billionaire families have given more than $1 million, collectively contributing $118 million, about a third of MAGA Inc.'s $350 million. Other major donors include Jeff Yass, Stephen Schwarzman, and Ronald Lauder. In some instances, financial support led to positions in Trump's administration, as seen with Elon Musk and Kelly Loeffler. Donations also coincided with favorable policy actions, such as OpenAI's federal contract and the crypto industry's push for lighter regulation. Unlike typical super PACs affiliated with past presidents, MAGA Inc. has amassed substantial funds for midterms, even though Trump is not on the ballot. The purpose of this large, largely unspent war chest may be to exert influence and enforce loyalty among Republicans.
