AI music generation company Suno, with 100 million users, is reportedly nearing a funding round close that could value it at over $5 billion, more than double its November valuation of $2.45 billion. Axios and Billboard reported this Series D round, six months after Suno raised $250 million. While details are unclear, music industry investors are involved, and Suno has previously invested heavily in hardware and energy for its AI. Despite industry pushback and lawsuits, the four-year-old startup is thriving, with Forbes estimating $150 million in revenue for 2025 and $25 million in February alone. CEO Mickey Schulman likened Suno to the "Ozempic of the music industry," noting its widespread, quiet use. Schulman foresees future opportunities in connecting artists with fans, suggesting interactive albums or AI-completed songs for artists like Taylor Swift. He believes a future without distinction between AI and non-AI generated music is inevitable.
